Gabe Newell believes in Linux as a platform for games.
The cofounder of Valve, Gabe Newell gave some statements about the future of gaming at an event in Seattle, USA, late on Tuesday (24). In the speech, Newell commented on the launch of Steam for Linux and said that Windows 8 will be a "catastrophe" that developers would abandon the system of Microsoft.
Windows 8's main novelty the Metro interface, adapted for touchscreens. The executive, however, believes that the touchscreen technology is just a fad and, in the future, we will use computerized bracelets to interact with computers through hand gestures, which are "very significant". For now, the solution is to use mouse and keyboard.
Newell believes that Windows 8 would hamper the gaming market. "I think profit margins will be destroyed in several companies. If this really happens, then it will be great to have an alternative to not suffer from it. "Salvation for these companies would be in Linux, the operating system that will receive the Steam soon.
